The Critical Realities Driving PLM Endeavors
|
| Company: | Omnify software |
| Continuous technology advances, increased customer demands, growing compliance standards, global outsourcing, and economic pressures are just some of the reasons that today’s manufacturers need to implement controlled product design and development processes. Developing more complex, higher quality products, in less time leaves little to no room for inefficiencies if a company wants to meet product delivery goals and maintain a competitive standing in the market. |

Improving Product Quality with Flexible Automation & Software
|
| Company: | Adept Technology Inc |
| With recalls taking center stage in today’s media, manufacturers must closely evaluate the cost of poor quality (CoPQ) to their business. CoPQ is typically defined as the costs that would disappear if your manufacturing process was perfect. These costs include lost goodwill and expenses incurred from replacement, refund, rework, and scrapping. It has been estimated that CoPQ amounts to approximately 5-30 percent of a manufacturer’s gross sales. This means CoPQ is costing manufacturers millions per year and therefore every executive should recognize that quality must be addressed to remain competitive. In industries where the price of product is the most prevailing factor, quality can be a significant differentiator and can either help or hurt your reputation as a manufacturer. |

Rugged Ridge Floormats
|
| Omix-Ada is the premier manufacturer of Jeep replacement,
restoration and accessory products, including the Rugged
Ridge accessory line of floormats. Currently, Jeep floormats
are either “carpet,” thermoformed rubber that fits the car, or
“deep” all-weather flat floormats that are not formed to fit.
Omix-Ada wanted to combine the advantages of both types
of mats to create OEM-quality mats that are both formed to
the vehicle and deep. However, they needed help in both
capturing the exact cab floor geometry and in incorporating
their design ideas into a manufacturable CAD model to
create tooling for the new floormats. |

Two key technologies, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Life-cycle Management (PLM), have developed into critical success factors for manufacturers. Each technology brings unique value to the enterprise, and when combined, ERP and PLM provide a wholly collaborative environment that has a major impact on successful product development performance and the ability to maintain a competitive advantage. |
